A critical facility that is required when installing or maintaining a wireless fire alarm system is how to test the and measure the reading for the radio signal strength between the panel and the device.
This reading is required to enable the engineer to ascertain whether the signal strength is within the guideline set by the manufacturer.
However, at the survey stage of the project, the signal strength information is obtained by doing a radio signal strength survey.
The survey will involve an engineer going to all areas of the building with the manufacturer’s test tool and acquiring the readings. On the basis of this information collected, a system can be designed and priced.
Steve Page of Electro Detectors talks us through how to navigate the panel and obtain the readings.
